This shawl is inspired by the Pheasant Phoenix Wing, combining the richly layered plumage of the pheasant with the dramatic, outstretched form of a phoenix. Shades of turquoise, gold, copper, crimson, and deep blue unfold across vintage map and compass details, creating a piece of wearable art filled with movement and vitality.
Pheasants are known for their striking plumage, with males displaying vivid greens, coppery tones, reds, and distinctive long tails. In traditional Chinese art, phoenix imagery has long carried associations with auspiciousness, prosperity, and good fortune, with phoenix-and-flower motifs also used to express harmony and flourishing.
In this design, the phoenix-like wings and compass imagery come together around a more spiritual idea: choosing a new direction and moving forward with renewed radiance. The compass does not provide the answer — it becomes a reminder that the direction worth following must ultimately be felt and chosen within.
